The Island of a Thousand Choices
The elder whispered in his ear: “Your secret name is Calibán…”
On the island, everything could be traded.
A shell might buy breakfast. Three blue stones could buy a boat ride. A silver token could open a gate—but only once. By noon, the boy had more choices than he had ever wanted.
The strange thing was that the richest person in the market carried almost nothing.
“How do I know what something is worth?” the boy asked. The woman behind the empty stall smiled. “That depends on what you are willing to lose.”
